St. Brigid’s would like to thank all those who came to support our cultural and comedy event on Sunday November 6th. Anyone who came was not disappointed as the evening started off to showcase the wonderful talent of our Scór na nÓg participants who represented the club at the Antrim finals the same day. While we may not have taken any medals in 2016 Antrim finals we made club history by entering Scór na nÓg and have now based a strong foundation for future involvement to promote Irish culture and tradition through storytelling, dance, music and singing. Thanks to all the very talented young Scór performers: Pierce, Lára, Niamh, Faye, Ella, Maria, Lauren, Hannah Rose, Aoife, Grace, Mairead, Aoife, Anna, Olivia, Anna and Ciara.
Scór was followed by an eventful evening of laughter and singing and it has to be said that Jimmy Cricket has certainly made a few new young fans. The energy of this man would put half of us to shame. We were delighted to have Jimmy perform for St Brigid’s as he has very close links to the club and we even got some untold stories on the night.
A big thank you to Mark Sidebottom who did a great job as MC and all those who donated raffle prizes, volunteers who helped set up and clear away everything and serve refreshments. A particular thank you to our younger club members on the tuc shop and those who sold tickets.
This is an exciting time for St. Brigid’s GAC in relation to promoting cultural events for the club, so a big thank you to the cultural committee. Cultural officer Tracy Galvin and sub-committee, Mary Turkington, Anna Bryson, Pat O’Hagan and Maria Mulgrew. A special thanks to Méabh Cleary and Sinead Rainey for their support with the singer and dancers and Peter Mulgrew for organising the fundraising event with Jimmy Cricket. We look forward to having similar events in the future.
