Bríd Óg P3/4 At Andersonstown Leisure Centre Go Games Sat 27 Feb 2016

The Bríd Óg P3/4 squad returned to Andersonstown Leisure Centre on Saturday for another set of Go Games.
First up was Ardoyne. The Bríd Óg team got off to a flying start in this game with Rónán leading the attack, from midfield. Ben was featuring in his first competitive P3/4 game. Ciara and Georgia were in defence. RÍonach was in goal with Patrick in midfield and Méabh assisting in attack.
Rónán got on the scoresheet early and was shooting at every opportunity. Ciara and Georgia were disciplined in defence and covered back for every ball, tackling the forwards as they tried to come through. Patrick was there in support in midfield with Ben and Méabh helping out upfront. Bríd Óg kept applying pressure and it wasn’t long before Rónán was on the scoreboard again. At two goals down, though, Ardoyne were not ready to give up and it took a great couple of saves from Ríonach to keep it at two- nil. Patrick took a knock but bravely played on. This was an all-out team effort by Bríd Óg and it was finished off with two more goals from Rónán.
Next up was Rossa. They had six players. In goals this time for Bríd Óg was Méabh with Georgia and Ciara again defending together with Ríonach upfront. Patrick and Rónán again took up midfield. Ben together with Lily, who had joined the squad for her debut competitive outing, were kept in reserve.
This was a much more challenging game. Rossa scored four but Bríd Óg battled all the way and all six of our players never stopped trying. They were rewarded by getting the ball into the back of the Rossa nets.
The last game of the morning was against Davitts. This was the most competitive game of the session. Yet again, Rónán led the attack, from midfield, with Patrick bravely assisting. Lily came on for her first competitive fixture in the Bríd Óg colours, swapping with Ben in the attack. Ríonach and Méabh swapped between goalkeeping duties and forwards, while Ciara and Georgia played in front of our goals. This was an end to end game and there were great defensive performances by Georgia, Ciara, Ríonach and Méabh. Rónán scored yet again, in this game, but Davitts were just slightly stronger and ran out 2-1 winners.
This was another very good set of performances by this young team. Well done to everybody involved, with a special mention to Lily and Ben, who got to play in competitive P3/4 games for the first time.
Thanks also to all the parents, friends and relations for their support of the team.
