P4/P3 SW Antrim Blitz

Venue: Tir Na Nog, Randalstown

Date: 2nd May 2015

Thanks to Ciaran for compiling the report

The P4/P3 team travelled to Randalstown to play in the latest SW Antrim indoor blitz.

The first match was against the host club, Tir Na Nog. Although, Brid Og had the majority of possession the Tir Na Nog keeper made a few good saves to keep Brid Og out. Brid Og did eventually manage a couple of scores, though Tir Na Nog came back at them with goals of their own. Brid Og rallied again to get another couple of goals and come away with a narrow victory by 4-2.

After this sticky start, Brid Og then put on a masterclass with comprehensive victories over Moneyglass, Latharna Og and Creggan.

All seven kids played very well. Techin was very sharp in front of goal and among his numerous goals were two where he flicked the ball between his legs to find the net. I think we will have to name that move ‘the Techin’. Liam had got out of his sick bed to play, but still managed several goals. Conor, James K, Oisin and Donncha got scores from all over the pitch. Donncha scoring from a long range free was very impressive. James S, freed from his usual defensive role also managed to get scores when he played higher up the field.

Brid Og were by far the best team playing in this blitz with all the kids playing displaying impressive skills and the team performing well in the full rules games. There were many comments from the organisers and the other coaches about the skill level of the Brid Og kids.
