The senior men faced a tough challenge in travelling to the Shaws Road to play recently relegated St Paul’s in the second game of the season. They knew it would be a tough defensive game with Eunan stressing the importance of patience. Ronan McGrady was the first to get his name on the scoreboard with 2 long range kicks off the deck. Points from Dowling in full forward and another from Ronan left the score 0.04 to 0.03 at half time.

A second half goal from Dowling after Ronan Mackle sent in a long range ball and points from McGrady, O Neill, Sweeney and McMahon left us 4 points in the lead going into injury time. St Paul’s looked like they were going to grab a late goal but our defense held up well with Daly in full back and Sweeney turning their attacks over around the 50 kept their forwards at bay. When Ronan McGrady stepped up with a last minute free from 60 yards launching it into the box where Dowling flicked it into the top corner sent us well clear of the line.

FT Score 2.10 – 0.09

Next Up is Moneyglass next Sunday at Musgrave.
