South Antrim U12 Hurling League v Saint Paul’s

Venue : Musgrave

Date: 28th July 2014

Brid Og continued their U12 league campaign with a re-arranged game against Saint Pauls as we were due to play each other earlier in the season.

In fairness we played at times like a team who hadn’t trained in several weeks and our link up play was disjointed at times. Saint Pauls had several chances early in the game to get a few major scores but for some heroics at the back from Brendan, Gerard, Jack C, JP, Paudraig and Goal keeper Joe.

This kick started the Og’s into action and they started to get some points on the board from Sean and Connla and goals from Sean and Jack D to take a half time lead of 2:3 to 0:2.

The second half was similar to the first however we started to get more shots on target and we went on a goal frenzy scoring 7 goals in quick succession with Sean (1), Jack D (2), Andrew (2), Brendan (1) and Dylan (1) getting our major scores and Connla completed our scoring with a point from distance. Although Daire and Pearse did not get on the score sheet they contributed to the teams performance and victory. Also it must be mentioned that Saint Paul’s played to the end and were rewarded with an additional 2 goals and a point themselves so the final score was Brid Og 9:4 Saint Pauls 2:3.

Thanks

Thanks to Oliver for refereeing the game and to Gerard for helping with the team selection. Thanks to our parents for their support from the side line as I am sure this helped in the early stages of the game when we were under sustained pressure from our opponents. Finally well played to our players who hurled brilliantly to keep our winning run in the league going. It must also be mentioned that the team was depleted this evening with several players away on holiday so the size of the victory must be commended.
