St Brigid’s Under 14 Ladies Squad (2014) contains a lot of familiar faces from last year’s League and Feile Champions’ Squad with the addition of several new faces. Names such as Darcey Smyth, Emma Ferran, Rebecca Doyle, Caitlyn Fryers, Maeve Blaney, Rosa McCormack, Niamh Magee and Tara Graham seem to have been around forever! Yet some of these girls are young enough that they could feature again next year at this age group!

Stalwarts from last year’s history making team include Anna Moore, Sorcha McGarvey, Eimear Matthews, Olivia Boyle, Nina Fitzpatrick, Eimear Mulligan, Adene Mallon, Lauren Carrol, Niamh O’Kane, and  new faces such as Fionn Laverty,  the Glover sisters (Hanna Rose and Ella), Teresa Mellon, Mary Mitchell, Orla Lynch, Anna Lavery and Lucy Maguire means that the future pipeline remains promising! This is not a definitive list but is representative of some of the talent that is within the club!

St Brigid’s success has not gone unnoticed at county level, with a number of our girls receiving call ups to the Antrim County Squads.

Having lost a lot of their ‘senior’ members this year to the Under 16’s, a rebuilding exercise has begun under the careful watch of Coaches Philip Doyle and Ronan Graham, with support from Under 12 Lead Coach, Rhoda Mitchell. These changes have already paid dividends with success in the Antrim Feile for the third year in a row!

This new look team is beginning to develop a style all of their own, with a sturdy defence, a pacey midfield and a forward line who seem able to score from all areas of the park.

The huge influx of Under 12’s that we saw in the last two years means that despite so many of the girls still being young, a number of them are in their second or third year at Under 14 level. They have been bolstered by half a dozen Under 12’s moving into contention for places this year.

The squad is off to Feile in Connacht this June, hosted by Owenmore Gaels in Sligo. At the time of this posting, they are 2014 Antrim Feile Champions, Semi-Finalists in the Antrim Championship and pressing hard to defend their league title that they won for the first time last year.

This squad have the potential to be the most successful Under 14’s that St Brigid’s have ever produced! Please give them your support!
