Venue: Lamh Dhearg

Date: 15th March 2014

Brid Og were able to field 2 teams at the P6 games in Hannahstown. One of our teams consisted mainly of P6 players and our second included mostly P5s and young Zack who had already played earlier in the day at the P4 games at Colin Valley.

On pitch 1(P6s) the games were 9 minutes each half as per the programme of events however on Pitch 2 (P5s) the groups numbers were increased to 4 teams and the games were reduced to 10 minutes straight

Pitch 1
Og v Saint John’s

This was a hard game for the players as they were up against a strong physical and skilful team and unfortunately our opponents came away with the victory

Brid Og v Saint Paul’s

This game was a high scoring classic with both sides playing great hurling. As the games on Pitch 2 were already over it was decided to let both sides make substitutions but this did not interfere with the spectacle on show. Shane and Fintan put in a shift in their midfield roles. Caelem in nets was well protected by Adam and Gerard with Eoghan occupying our forward position. David, Niall, Pearse and Zack also came on from the side lines and in the end I think we managed a victory by the narrowest of margins

Pitch 2

Brid Og v Saint Pauls

This game was similar to our Saint John’s game on the adjacent pitch as we started sluggish and after Saint Paul’s got a couple of early scores we found it hard to get back into game and Saint Pauls took the victory.

Brid Og v Ardoyne

Our next game was against North Belfast side Ardoyne and our players started to do the basics right and their greater possession resulted in a 3-0 victory.

Brid Og v Saint Johns

Our final game on pitch 2 was against St Johns. Niall now joined our ranks which also included Conlon, David, Owen, Pearse, Sophia and Zack. This was our best performance of the day and we scored some great goals from distance and collected our second victory for this team on the day.

Thanks
I would like to thank Kieran for organising these games and it was nice to get some outdoor matches. Thanks to our players parents for their vocal support from the sidelines and thanks to Gavin, John and Tara for helping with the 2 teams. Finally it is great to see the number of players that are attending both training and the games at the moment and this can only strengthen our team for the future.
