The Good Run Continues For The Saint Brigid’s U10 Munster Squad
>>
>> The season’s perfect record was maintained against a side that could have troubled a team less prepared than our side.
>>
>> For the third week in a row a strong start gave us the perfect platform. We pressed the other team’s distribution from nets very well indeed which resulted in the early part of the game being played principally in the Aghagalon last third of the pitch. That gave our attacking midfielders and forwards a chance to shine. They took that chance with both hands. Niall Finnegan again delivering some exquisite scores, firing points over from distance and acute angles.
>>
>> Matthew McCann had his best match of the campaign so far, showing why people are confident he will be a strong performer in this and future seasons. It was little surprise he had to take some time off with a blood injury with the industry he was putting in from midfield.
>>
>> Pierce Finnegan was intelligently pressing the line up further helping to keep the pressure on Aghagalon. Joseph Cullinan was displaying his ability to read the game well, always being in the right place to win possession for the team. He was well supported by Thomas Kavanagh who was covering a lot of ground all afternoon.
>>
>> James Kilpatrick is having an excellent season so far, and his distribution from defence made sure we could swiftly switch into attack when the ball made its way into our half. Up front Liam Magee scored a fine point and close range goal.
>>
>> Garrett Gilleece excelled when he moved into the forward line, showing a desire to seek out the ball. A very versatile player with an appetite for getting involved. Rory Birt also showed his ability to switch position, helping out defence in the middle of the game. He worked well with Peter McFadden who was proving a real star distributing the ball with real intelligence.
>>
>> Adam Murphy had a quiet spell in nets, and again when he came outfield he fitted in well with some great efforts on goal. Shane Murphy put in an industrious performance working hard mainly in the centre of midfield , putting in admirable effort in controlling the strongest unit of our opponents, their midfield duo. Conor McAteer gave no quarter in the game, winning possession from his marker on several occasions.
>>
>> Ronan McFadden was going from strength to strength again showing why he has such promise, closing down his man tightly every chance he had. After a quiet third spell in the game from both teams, Conor Brown took the match up a gear with some really classy play, a great sideline ball to set up the best score in the game and he also weighed in with goals of his own in quick succession. Dara “Dazzler” McKay focused well on his game, marking his man well for the second game on the bounce. Brian O’Shea was also showing that he has the footballing ability to make a place in midfield his in future matches. Joseph O’Sullivan and Niall Murtagh had great games, both putting in some great balls into the forward line from both wings. They created many of the scores in the latter stages in the game.
>>
>> Whilst we will come across tougher games in the season, we can take a lot of satisfaction in the strong performance from a solid squad that delivered a comfortable win.

>
> Saint Brigid’s U10 Ulster Squad

> With the Saint Brigid U 10 Munster team delivering another win, the pressure was on the Ulster Squad to continue their unbeaten run.
>
> Unlike the Munster squad the Ulster Squad started slowly as Saint Mary’s Aghagallon came racing out of the blocks and quickly moved into a commanding lead.
>
> This spurred Saint Brigid ‘s into action.
>
> In goals young John Mc Cooe made an impressive debut.
> He made some fine saves, delivered some long range kick outs and has certainly played himself into contention for future games.
>
> The defence found this there hardest challenge to dare.
> James Gorman found his opposite number quite tricky but worked tirelessly throughout.
> Brian Mc Gurk put in a good days work with a steady performance, while
> Mark Canavan after a shaky first five minutes settle down to produce a fine commanding performance.
>
> By half time Saint Brigid ‘s were asserting themselves and it was clear that there was only going to be one winner.
>
> The midfield battle was a times red hot.
> Much is expected of our midfield and the players once again produced the goods.
> Cathal Maguire worked hard and produced some of his best work in the last quarter.
>
> Donal Bradley led by example, never scared to take risks, he tackled hard all day , won numerous 50/50 balls and really came to life in the last quarter when our midfield was in complete control.
>
> Fintan Cleary put in a specular performance, which included high fielding accurate passing and some excellent point taking.
>
> Upfront Oliver Marken started his first game in the forward line, but was given a roving role. While a couple of Oliver’s kicks went slightly wide, he continued his impressive work rate and showed some very good decision making. Oliver’s work rate has become the bench mark that others must strive to match.
> Fintan Mc Garvey once again knocked over some good scores, but must up his work rate, to match his undoubted ability.
> Aodhan Mc Nicholl had another outstanding game and gave his marker a very torrid time, finishing the game as Saint Brigid ‘s top scorer with some excellent points.
>
> Saint Brigid’s continued their policy of player rotation and introduce both Ben Mc Auley and Donal Hanna. Ben and Donal worked hard, and while not everything went their way, both knuckled down and made positive contributions at an important stage of the game.
>
> Competition is really starting to heat for places on both teams.
>
>
> Well done boys
> Keep up the good work
