St Brigid’s U14 Ladies off on a Scottish Adventure

After last year’s success for the U14 ladies team in the annual St.Gall’s 11-aside tournament, Sunday March 24th will see an expanded, experimental St. Brigid’s squad head to Scotland to participate in an annual tournament, hosted by local teams in Coatbridge, near Glasgow.

The girls’ Feile achievements, and their winning performance last year at St Gall’s so impressed visiting Scottish coach Joe Bradley, that he was keen to have St Brigid’s join St Gall’s, and a number of other Ulster clubs included in next weekend’s event.

For many of our U14’s and promising U12’s, it will be their first ‘off island’ tour, and should give the girls’ coaches, a measure of where our squad players are in respect of their fitness and skills, ahead of the rapidly approaching season’s start.

For one young team member Rebecca Doyle, the excitement of playing in Scotland is particularly significant as her Dad hails from Glasgow. He promises that she and all her club mates will be afforded the warmest of welcomes from her extended Scottish family.

The girls’s day starts early as they head for the 7am ferry, but with rumours that a certain Mr Maguire may be joining the ladies to inspire them on the day, perhaps they can start off the new season as strongly as they finished the last?

Good luck ladies from all at the club!
