The St Brid/Phadraig Minors began their O’Dwyer Cup campaign today (Sunday) against Ardoyne, at Mallusk.

Some great scores put NBP in front after 5 minutes but some slack defending across the park let Ardoyne back into the game. Two NBP goals towards the end of the first half, gave a very flattering scoreline and belied a listless first half performance by NBP.
The second half saw an incredible performance across all positions.

There was an intensity of tackling across all positions, giving the opposition no time on the ball and holding them scoreless for the final period.

Some excellent passing, support play and great scores from across the front line saw NBP run out comfortable winners in the end – racking up 26 scores in total.

Once again there was a great turn out from the squad with 20+ players turning up – some of those injured turning up as well.

Today’s job was to progress into the next round of the O’Dwyer Cup – there will be tougher opposition lying in wait in the next game, but the change in attitude in the second half and the contribution from across the squad augers well.
