Minors start the season with friendly v Eglish

The St Brigids / St Patricks Minor team took to the field for the first time on Sunday 24th February against a strong Eglish team, at the Naomh Padraig ground in Tyrone.

In near-perfect footballing conditions, the 17 players representing both clubs put in a performance that would have been worthy of any jersey.

Against a team that were promoted from Tyrone Grade B last year, unbeaten to date in their 5 games this season, and fielding 4 Tyrone county minors, the St Bridgids/Pats team put in an incredible performance to finish the game strongly, winning by 6 points.

Each player played an important role in the result, but it was the performance that overshadowed the result.

Behind by 4 points at the end of the first half, the team put in a performance, of intensity, effort and vibrancy that saw them reel off 3 un-answered goals and some excellent points from play and from long range frees.

It was simply a magnificent effort by every player – some playing unfamiliar positions, and alongside unfamiliar faces.
