Brid Og v Bredagh
Venue: Musgrave
Date: 25th August 2012

Brid Og’s U13 hurlers got back to competitive ways, after the summer vacation, with a challenge match against Bredagh at Musgrave Park.

The first half was a very low scoring tight affair and there were a lot of tussles for the sliotar all over the pitch. Unfortunately areas around the goal were very muddy due to the adverse “Summer” weather conditions and this made it difficult for both teams to get clean possession of the sliotar. Peter Henvey in nets however, was in sparkling form and was able to get clean catches to clear his goal line and his puc outs were able to feed our midfield and half forward lines. Brid Og went into the break with a narrow lead of 1-0 to 0-1 with Ethan getting the goal from a free.

The second half our opponents started to raise their game and began to claw back our lead through points from play. As the Og’s had a large panel (21 players) the players were rotated from the sidelines but in the last 5-10 minutes there was constant pressure on our back lines of  Connla, Conor, Ciaran, John, Oisin and Phelim and Bredagh got the scores to take the lead and therefore the game.

Our demise in the last 10 minutes highlighted the lack of hurling that the team has had over the last month and therefore we would hope to get all our players back to training on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. We would also hope to have some challenge games organised for this age group over the next couple of weeks
