St Gall’s 4:1 Brid Og 1:4

Brid Og’s U12 hurlers continued their league campaign against Saint Gall’s at their Milltown Pitch. A scrappy first half finished scoreless due to the strong blustery conditions sending the sliotar narrowly wide with Ronan C coming the closest to scoring.

The Second half started in a similar fashion with both defences on top but a strong run from a St Gall’s player resulted in a goal for the hosts. Again due to the conditions the Og’s found it hard to clear their lines and Saint Gall’s got a couple of quick goals.

This seemed to kick start the Og’s into competing. Ciaran and Tom were winning possession of the sliotar and Rory was now playing in a more advanced role. During the last 15 minutes the sliotar was constantly in the Saint Gall’s half and this pressure resulted in great pointed scores from Ronan C and Sean. Rory added to the scoring with a low drive which went narrowly over the bar when I think he was hoping to raise the green flag.

The Og’s were also rewarded with a goal when Saint Gall’s young keeper walked the sliotar over the line due to pressure from Conor Erskine but unfortunately our revival had started too late and Saint Gall’s claimed the victory.

Well done to all the Brid Og players who today again confirmed that we can compete at this level. Over the 2 halves there was not much between the teams and we certainly had the majority of the possession.
