It´s a blistering 45ºc here in Seville, so I took a little time out to check on where our senior reserves stand in their gallant bid for promotion to ACFL Div 3. Essentially it’s all coming down to the final three rounds of matches in the space of a week starting on 20th July, when we meet St Johns our only challengers. With seven wins on the trot — St Johns are right on form with a sixfold themselves — we are two points clear in second spot and hold a very handy 34 point score aggregate advantage that may yet come into play. If we manage a win in Corrigan Park, that should be enough to make history again. In the final two rounds, we have difficult matches against champions elect Portglenone and Eire Og while the Johnnies will not relish a trip to the Bannsiders before hosting St Malachys in the final round. All told, it’s a gripping finale to an excellent season for Benny O´Neill and John Bogue’s men. Please come out and give the boys your support. Naomh Brid abu.
