The minors short quite a few personnel performed poorly in the opening half and trailed by 1: 8 to 0:3. Mark Cummings at full forward for the Milltown boys was hard to tie down, accounting for 1:5 of this margin. Naomh Brid’s poor return was not helpd when Gildea and Leonard fluffed their lines in front of the goals when goal scoring chances appeared.

A second half come back appeared unlikely despite sub Ronan McGrady helping the scoring threat. However when Conway was pulled down for a penalty, which Peter Mooney duly converted, the margin was reduced to three but Cummings at the other end ensured the victory.

Very good performances from Peter Lundy and Sean McKernan were only bettered by the more experienced Mark Salters and Ben Leonard, the latter edging man of the match, not for the first time this season.

Final score: 2-6 to 1-12
