A poor opening quarter from the Malone boys in which they trailed 1-6 to 2 points meant that this was always going to be an uphill struggle. Defensive mistakes and poor handling at midfield yielded a high price for the slow beginning.
However Paul Finnegan, Anthony Duffy and John McGuckian in the central areas got to grips with their men and the score board finally started ticking at the other end after a few chances had dropped into the keeper’s hands. A period of dominance followed, led in no small part by Ronan and Conor Mackle. The comeback was on with a 3 point margin in it at the small whistle.

St. Brigid’s managed to draw level after a promising opening ten minutes. As Brendan Corrigan performed heroics at the back, there looked every possibility that the game could turn St Brigids way. A score from a  controversial 45 led to the Derriaghy boys starting a purple patch of their own and when another turnover resulted in a green flag the hosts were on thier way to victory.

Final score: 2-10 to 0-13
