The under 16’s put in a sterling performance but lost out in the end to a slightly bigger opposition at Musgrave. With Easter hols taking its toll the lighter blues started off well with McGovern very accurate from frees and Cathal Conway scoring a scorcher to the corner of the net. The Malone boys were going well. a stonewall penalty was awarded and Conway duly tucked it away. At the other end the blossoming Maurice Campbell was keeping the north belfast men at bay. A slender two point lead at the break for Naomh Brid was slightly against the run of play as Kickhams kicked plenty wide in the period just before the break.

Despite the best efforts of Dan Rainey, John Keenan and Luke McKeever the Ardoyne men seized a grip on the game and the turning point game came when Conway blasted wide after a great run from close range. From the resultant kick out the net bulged at the other end and the south siders were in trouble.

A late scrambled goal was all the hosts could muster from countless attacks in the last quarter.

Final score: Naomh Brid 3:5 Ardoyne 3:8
