St Brigids P5s and P4s had a great day out at the annual St Galls Tournament on May Day.

Such was the interest from the boys that the club entered two teams, one in the main cup and one in the plate.

The cup team were came up against local opposition in their group games in St Teresas and the hosts St Galls, and managed to take full points from their first two games. Next up was the strong Downpatrick side, the tournament’s eventual winners, who proved clinical in their finishing, scoring 3 goals to St Brigids 1. That defeat meant that St Brigids were pitted against another county Down side in Carryduff in the knockout stage. This game was a really close affair, however the Malone Gaels ran out of steam on a warm day and went down to some late scores from the Carryduff lads.

St Brigid’s P4’s played some fantastic football at the tournament the Team was entered in the Plate Competition, designed for Clubs to field their younger P5s.

Undefeated in the Group Stages against opposition from St Galls, Bredagh, Drumragh (Omagh), Rossa and Carryduff, the St Brigids boys came up against Bredagh in the final and finished strongly to win by a good margin, despite determined opposition from the neighbouring Club.

Well done to all concerned.
