The U14s remain unbeaten in the league after a hard physical game at Musgrave against Gort na Mona. We struggled to contain them in the first half with the most of the physical contests being won by the visitors. There may have been a lot of the younger and less experienced boys starting this game but there was no lack of effort from the likes of Niall Mallon, Niall Lundy,Andy McGrath, Peter Morgan, John Keenan, Joe Cunnane or Mickey Lagan. Cathal Conway also put in a good shift when he came on. Despite this we came in 6 pts down at half time and had a real challenge ahead.

The second half saw a step up from St Brigids with the introduction of some of the more experienced players. However, Gort na Mona stayed in touch right to the end but could not cope with some of the powerful running of Niall Quinn and tireless work of Sean McKernan and Fergal Leyden. James Gribben did well at full back, Garrett Mulholland put in another tenacious display and young Dominic Mooney showed the character that will be needed if we are to really challenge for honours this year, when putting his body on the line in tackles.

A final score of 6-12 to 5-6 to St Brigids was a fair reflection of the game overall but leaves us with a lot in the weeks ahead to continue our improvement.
