The under 16 team travelled over to Hightown full of confidence after an excellent pre-season.

They started the match really well when full-forward Jack Dowling scored a lucky point that bounced between the ‘keeper and full-back. But St Endas responded well by scoring three points (two of those coming from frees). Then a couple of minutes before half-time St Endas rounded of a low scoring first half with a goal but could’ve had another had it not been a square ball.

In the middle of the half Dan Nolan was replaced after failing to cope with St Endas star half-forward and Joe Begley was brought on and managed to withold his influence on the game to free kicks.

With St Endas dominating midfield, the coaches decided to add some height to it and moved Conor McGranaghan into midfield and Cormac McGrady into centre half-back. The only other change was moving Jack Dowling into half-forward and Peter McLean into full-forward and Peter Lundy switching to right full-forward.

The second half started the way the first ended with St
Endas dominating in every position on the field. They were scoring freely and there was nothing the St Brigids defence could do about it. After a period of complete domination by St Endas, when they scored 1-6, St Brigids started to push forward and managed to get a goal and two points.

At the final whistle the score was 3-9 to 1-6. It was a very disappointing evening for the boys who have trained tirelessly all year. The only thing they can do is take it away and improve on it next time out.
