Honours Even For Reserves

Sunday’s Senior challenge game was followed by an entertaining reserve challenge with a draw being the end result. In truth though, the visitors should have emerged victorious given their dominance of possession.
Mel MacSherry and Duncan Macaulay did the damage in the first half with three and two points from play respectively. Macaulay also hit the bar with a great effort only for Timothy McCrudden to miss from the rebound from about two foot in front of an empty net. Big brother Keelan spared him some blushes with a well-taken point before the break.

Half Time: Teconnaught 0 – 5
S Brigids 0 – 6

With Macaulay, McCrudden and Niall McDonald ruling the roost around midfield, the game should have been over as a contest half way through the second half, but over elaboration and poor finishing was the order of the day. Further scores from Macaulay and a good effort from Michael McLoughlin ensured defeat was avoided, but it’s a game that could and should have been won.

St Brigids 0 – 9

A harsh lesson then, but nonetheless a useful workout and an opportunity for all, including a handful of Minors to stake a claim for places. Along with the scorers John McKeever and Mark Kelly were most impressive.
