The Division 4 team finished their league campaign last night when they went down 0-12 to 0-5 to Ardoyne at Mallusk.

Despite having a number of absentees, sore legs, groins, hamstrings and players playing in new positions Naomh Brid put up a strong showing for most of the game and were in strong contention right up to the last 5 minutes when Ardoyne pulled away with 4 unanswered points as the game petered out.

Having played against the breeze in the first half, Naomh Brid trailed by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break with Ruairi O’Neill scoring an excellent point despite playing with a heavy flu.

The goal which would have turned the game in Naomh Brid’s favour just wouldn’t come with Keelan McCrudden, Jimmy King, Ruairi O’Neill and Stephen Walker all creating goal chances, but bad luck, square balls, wides and points were all to blame!

Once again Frank O’Neill and Conall Mullary played with conviction and authority ably assisted by John McKeever and debutant Peter O’Connor who had an excellent game.

The second half of the league saw the Naomh Brid squad get a good return for their efforts in their first season which bodes well for next year.

Watch out for details on mini tournament with Carryduff, Bredagh and Holywood over September.
